Inkscape Workshop
I also attended an Inkscape Workshop, an Open Source Graphics Editor, presented by Rob Canning. Inkscape is a vector graphics editor application, under a free GNU software license. It has a variety of powerful graphics tools that gives full support for Vector Graphics.

Inkscape’s biggest advantage is that it manages and keeps a record of all changes made

In today’s workshop, I learnt how to create a file for a laser cutter, using 2D vectors.

I began by going on
which gave me an easy laser cut case design, allowing to change the dimensions, material thickness and edge joints, before using Inkscape.

Below are screenshots of my experimentation of 2D vector designs, using Inkscape:

As Inkscape has a large number of tools, below is a link, which you can click on.

This link acts as a user manual to help with the easy understanding of this Open Source Graphics Editor.
In addition, I learnt about Copylefted SVG Galleries such as

This is an online gallery of user free images, sound, and other media files, which is a great source to use when designing files on Inkscape.

HOMEPAGE
Having attended the Inkscape workshop, I wanted to experiment further. I decided to create a Globe with latitudes and longitudes on it, using the tools on Inkscape.
My Own Experimentation with Inkscape:
I first started by drawing a perfect circle with no fill and black stroke.
I next created tiled clones and varied the shift and scale, to create 10 rows and columns.
Once this was completed I drew a straight line from the top centre to the bottom centre to get an equator.
Next I combined both paths, added colour and gradient to my globe, as well as adding typography using the bezier tool.
Finally I selected the letterforms and added an inner glow to create effect.
This is my outcome of a Globe, experimenting on Inkscape saved as 72dpi for quality resolution.

I thoroughly enjoyed exploring the tools on Inkscape, which gave me a greater understanding of how to use this Open Source Graphics Editor.
