I was also introduced to a free software font editor- Font Forge where I learnt about the basics of this software and how to create letter forms.

Here are screenshots of the letters " O, A, N" created using Fontforge. Experimenting with Fontforge allowed me to create and modify fonts in different outline formats.
Tools:
- I experimented with scale and contour.
- Used the corner tool
- And added curve points
all to create letterforms.
To sum up, by attending the Open Type and Fontforge workshops, I discovered how over the years, because of low cost, open source software has become really popular, available for free, for everyone to use, to distribute and modify.
On reflection, this knowledge has given me a different perspective on software. As an up and coming Graphic Designer, I now have greater awareness of the free software available that uses typography, layout and artistic techniques, that can help me take on design works for visual communication and presentation on a low cost budget.

My Own Experimentation using Fontforge:
After being introduced to the basics of Fontforge, I experimented further and created my own typeface using Fontforge to represent my name.

Below are images of the tools I used when creating my own letterforms.
For the letters “TONIA”, I chose to use uppercase and lowercase letterforms and mixed the fonts –serif and non-serif typefaces for added effect. Here I have shown how I experimented with the line and curve tools, the baseline, adjusting the width of the letterforms, and how I have created my own typeface to represent my name.
